UKCPI responds to Minister on animal testing ban

Posted by Charlotte Salter, on October 18, 2011.

Home Office statistics confirm that no home cleaning products have been tested for a number of years.

The cleaning products industry’s first priority is to ensure that its products are safe to use by consumers.

The cleaning products industry has worked hard to establish non animal (in vitro) test methods and to share cleaning information industry wide to ensure that its products are safe and to satisfy the comprehensive human and environmental safety regulations – without testing products on animals.

We welcome the Minister’s statement and believe the Government’s proposal is a positive and pragmatic approach to reducing the use of animals in scientific research and household product testing.

We will be responding positively through the consultation procedure.
