New Europe-wide initiative launched for air freshener emissions

The European body which represents manufacturers of cleaning products has launched a new initiative to promote best practices in the manufacture, marketing and use of air fresheners.

The product stewardship programme (PSP) is a voluntary scheme run by the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (AISE), and builds on the success of the previous programme, which was launched in 2007.

UKCPI director general Philip Malpass welcomed the launch of the PSP, saying it underlined the commitment of companies to ensure products were as safe and effective as possible for consumers.

The scheme requires even higher standards than existing regulation for safety, product labelling, product shape and advertising
