The incoming president of the European trade body for cleaning product manufacturers has committed the organisation to a strong relationship with UKCPI regardless of the outcome of negotiations on Britain leaving the EU.

Arndt Scheidgen has taken over as president of the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (AISE) from Charles-Francois Gaudefroy, and he used his welcome address to discuss the fallout from Brexit.
“We cannot predict yet all consequences this move will have,” he said. “What we can do at this moment, however, is to affirm that we intend to keep the close bonds with our British colleagues, with UKCPI being one of our big, agenda-shaping national associations.”
Mr Scheidgen is currently corporate vice president of product development for laundry and home care at Cologne-based company Henkel.
Three other appointments have been to the AISE leadership team. Nadia Viva of Procter and Gamble was elected vice president representing corporate members, Valérie Lucas (AFISE) is the new vice-president representing national associations and Luis Zunzunegui of SC Johnson is treasurer.
