The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) has appointed Philip Malpass as its new Director General, with effect from 1 September 2009. He takes over the role from Dr Andy Williams who is retiring after eight years in the role.
Philip previously held the post Vice President – Communications for the drinks giant, Constellation Europe. From 1997 – 2005 he held senior external relations positions in other alcoholic beverage sector companies including Bass, Inbev and Interbrew NV in Belgium.
Earlier experience spans a variety of senior communications positions in the pharmaceuticals and chemicals sector working for Rhone-Poulenc (Sanofi) and RTZ Chemicals (Rhodia). Philip studied marine biology and has an MSc in environmental chemistry and was for four years a lecturer and post graduate tutor specialising in environmental toxicology.
The UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) is the leading Trade Association representing UK manufacturers of cleaning, hygiene and surface care products, a sector worth an estimated £3 billion.
