NEWS FOR A.I.S.E. MEMBERS, July 2020

Highlights from A.I.S.E.'s General Assembly 2020

Even though A.I.S.E.’s General Assembly 2020 took place online rather than face-to-face on 9 June, the importance of the occasion was not diminished, with several important changes and transition for the association.

2019 market data shows ongoing strength in the industry
The newly published A.I.S.E. Activity & Sustainability Report 2019-2020 communicates the market data for 2019, showing the ongoing strength of our industry. The total estimated market value for all sectors is €38 billion in 2019; this consists of €30,2 billion of the household sector, and €7,8 billion for the professional sector, showing a growth rate of 2% and 3.2% respectively.

EU Green Deal
The Board recognised and agreed the Green Deal to become one of the short-term key priorities for our industry sector in the coming years and approved the recommendations of the A.I.S.E. Green Deal Consultation following the outcome of the priority assessment of the Green Deal chapters.

Update on COVID-19 impact
A.I.S.E. held a call with DG SANTE on 26 June to discuss several issues: (i) the industry’s request for greater predictability and planning during the Member State’s move away from confinement, (ii) the possible extensions to Art.55 derogations, (iii) the status of illegal products on the market and potential harmonised enforcement activities.

Impact of Covid-19 on home care and consumer appliances - Euromonitor webinar
Euromonitor has published a webinar on the Impact of Covid-19 on Home Care and Consumer Appliances that you might find interesting. The webinar is led by Ian Bell, global lead of home care research at Euromonitor, and examines the consequences of COVID-19 for home care and associated consumer appliances companies, exploring the longer term impact on sustainability and legislation initiatives. The webinar is available for the A.I.S.E. network to watch.

Cross industry alliance on COVID-19
At the initiative of A.I.S.E., EBPF (the European Biocidal Products Forum, a sector group of CEFIC) and FECC (the European Association of Chemical Distributors), a cross-industry alliance on COVID-19 was created. The main objective of the alliance is to provide industry with faster access to the relevant information, helping them to ensure that the authorities, medical facilities and the public all have enough supply of valuable disinfectants in this time of need.
