Even
though A.I.S.E.’s General Assembly 2020 took place online rather than
face-to-face on 9 June, the importance of the occasion was not
diminished, with several important changes and transition for the
association.

|
2019 market data shows ongoing strength in the industry
|
|
The
newly published A.I.S.E. Activity & Sustainability Report 2019-2020
communicates the market data for 2019, showing the ongoing strength of
our industry. The total estimated market value for all sectors is €38
billion in 2019; this consists of €30,2 billion of the household sector,
and €7,8 billion for the professional sector, showing a growth rate of
2% and 3.2% respectively.

The
Board recognised and agreed the Green Deal to become one of the
short-term key priorities for our industry sector in the coming years
and approved the recommendations of the A.I.S.E. Green Deal Consultation
following the outcome of the priority assessment of the Green Deal
chapters.

Update on COVID-19 impact
|
|
A.I.S.E.
held a call with DG SANTE on 26 June to discuss several issues: (i) the
industry’s request for greater predictability and planning during the
Member State’s move away from confinement, (ii) the possible extensions
to Art.55 derogations, (iii) the status of illegal products on the
market and potential harmonised enforcement activities.

Impact of Covid-19 on home care and consumer appliances - Euromonitor webinar
|
|
Euromonitor
has published a webinar on the Impact of Covid-19 on Home Care and
Consumer Appliances that you might find interesting. The webinar is led
by Ian Bell, global lead of home care research at Euromonitor, and
examines the consequences of COVID-19 for home care and associated
consumer appliances companies, exploring the longer term impact on

Cross industry alliance on COVID-19
|
|
At the initiative of A.I.S.E., EBPF (the European Biocidal Products Forum, a sector group of CEFIC) and FECC (the
European Association of Chemical Distributors), a cross-industry
alliance on COVID-19 was created. The main objective of the alliance is
to provide industry with faster access to the relevant information,
helping them to ensure that the authorities, medical facilities and the
public all have enough supply of valuable disinfectants in this time of
need.
