Students encouraged to pledge preference to 30°C

Thursday, May 29, 2014

The I Prefer 30 low temperature laundry campaign has joined forces with the NUS to encourage students to wash their laundry at a lower temperature - by running a selfie competition.

The competition invites entrants to post a selfie of themselves next to their washing machines set at 30°C and then post it on the NUS Facebook page for the chance to win £250 worth of high street vouchers. There’s even an extra £250 worth of vouchers for the funniest photo.

Philip Malpass of the UK Cleaning Products Industry Association (UKCPI) behind the UK campaign said: “Washing at the lowest possible temperature helps you to cut CO2 emissions, save energy and help the environment. Plus there’s the added bonus of your clothes looking good and lasting longer”.

I Prefer 30 goody bags are going out to five student unions in May in conjunction the competition which is currently featured in the NUS Extra e-bulletin. The competition will also feature on at the end of May (competition closes 30 June 2014).
